  75. What is OASIS?
  76.  
  77.      OASIS (OWL Automated Sales and Invoicing System) is a
  78.      complete sales management system that includes: invoicing,
  79.      automated billing, customer correspondence, mailing list
  80.      management, and sales tracking.  OASIS Features:

  82.      *    Intuitive menus that minimize typing.  For example, to
  83.           create an invoice you simply choose the customer and
  84.           products sold from a series of menus.  OASIS fills in
  85.           the invoice and computes the sales tax for you.
  86.      *    Customer tracking.  Customer profile reports show each
  87.           customer, the items they have purchased and the dates
  88.           each item was purchased.
  89.      *    Sales tracking.  Product sales reports give a complete
  90.           picture of the products that are selling and those that
  91.           are not.  The Buyers report shows you the names of
  92.           customers who have purchased a particular product.
  93.      *    Mailing list management.  Customers can be separated
  94.           into up to 100 groups. Mailing labels and mail merge
  95.           files can be generated for any combination of one or
  96.           more groups of customers.  This feature lets you target
  97.           your mass mailings to just those customers who are most

  125. Upgrading from an earlier Windows version.
  126.  
  127.      Before installing this version use your present version of
  128.      OASIS to make a backup disk of your data.  In the File menu
  129.      choose the Backup Data option to make the backup disk.  This
  130.      is a precautionary measure.
  131.      
  132.      During the installation process you will be prompted to
  133.      choose either "Full Installation" or "Upgrade Installation."
  134.      If you choose "Upgrade Installation" your present data files
  135.      will be preserved.  If you accidently choose Full
  136.      Installation, your present data files will be overwritten
  137.      and you will need to choose the "Restore Data" option to
  138.      restore your backup data for use with the new version.

  140. Installation

  142.      To install OASIS, use the Program Manager or File Manager to
  143.      run oasetup.exe.  For example, if you are installing from
  144.      drive A:

  146.      1.From the Program Manager File or Win95 Start menu, choose
  147.        Run.
  148.      2.In the Run dialog box, type "a:oasetup.exe" and choose
  149.        OK.
  150.  
  151.      The install program will allow you to select the drive and
  152.      directory where OASIS will be installed.  The default is
  153.      C:\owl_bus.  If you are reinstalling OASIS for Windows or
  154.      installing an updated version, use the same directory where
  155.      you originally installed the program.

  157.      The Install program creates a program group named "OWL
  158.      Business Apps" with icons for OASIS, OASIS User's Guide, and
  159.      README.

  161. RUNNING THE PROGRAM

  163.      The data files shipped with the program are empty.  The
  164.      Getting Started section of the User's Guide contains a step-
  165.      by-step guide to program setup and creating your first
  166.      invoice.  To view this information double click the OASIS
  167.      User's Guide icon then select Program Setup under Getting
  168.      Started from the Table of Contents.
